If you're a crypto trader, you've definitely heard of Coinbase. It was an early mover in the space and has since become one of the largest crypto trading platforms in the world. Initially, the platform was simply a way to buy Bitcoin, but it has since become an all-enveloping service. Coinbase offers tools for newbies, investors, crypto-users, and even developers looking to bring crypto-based infrastructure to their businesses.

Brian Armstrong, the co-founder of Coinbase, is now the centerpiece of a new documentary called "Coin, A Founder's Story." This film will be a way to learn about crypto and see the history of one of the most prominent players in the space. It's very likely that this film will be the first interaction many have with this space.

As you'll see in the trailer, Armstrong has always been a bit of a risk-taker, but it's good to see a crypto company trying to infiltrate the public eye and make some noise.

Coin is available to watch on Prime Video and other services beginning today.

Vee-Friends are Hitting the Shelves

Gary Vaynerchuk's popular Vee-Friends collection might be coming to a store near you.

Wait, did you say store? I thought Vee-Friends were NFTs? Well, they are, but it seems like Vaynerchuk is attempting to expand his popular collection to the desirable physical collectible space.

“This partnership means way more to me than you could ever imagine. The thought that VeeFriends will be in Macy’s and Toys “R” Us simultaneously is incredible. I fondly remember growing up in Edison, New Jersey, walking down these stores’ aisles as a kid. We chose characters that we think embody exciting features for first-time collectors, much like some of the toys I picked up on the shelves of Toys “R” Us the first time. I can’t wait to see them in-store and on the shelves — it’s a full circle moment for me and a very big step for the company.”

Gary Vaynerchuk

Like Vaynerchuk, the Mint Staff also remembers walking down aisles at toy stores as young kids. Toys have always been an invaluable tool for people that create universes in film, TV, and more. They give those universes a certain amount of tangibility that their virtual counterparts can't.

Select VeeFriends will now be available at Macy's and Toys "R" Us.

It will be interesting to see how this news affects other "blue-chip" NFT collections. Will we see other collections move into the physical space as well? We'll certainly be watching closely.

Warner Music Group Taps Opensea For New Features

Warner Music, the record label behind artists like Dua Lipa, Lizzo, Jack Harlowe, Coldplay, and more, is embracing the future of music with OpenSea. The two inked a deal last week to "provide a platform for select WMG artists to build and extend their fan communities in Web3."

What does this mean? →

This is actually colossal news, so we were surprised that it didn't get more coverage than it did. Music NFTs are a fast-approaching concept that are heavily advantageous to musicians. Artists like The Weeknd, Grimes, Kings of Leon, and Shawn Mendes have already released NFT collections that include music, tickets, and exclusive access to events. It looks like WMG sees the potential in NFTs and wants to give their artists OpenSea's top-tier NFT infrastructure to use if they choose to do so.

Additionally, Warner's new WMX division is dedicated to giving their signed artists more opportunities to grow their brand, so this partnership will align wonderfully.

The music business is no longer linear, transactional, and based on one format. It’s complex, multi-faceted, and interactive. There’s an ever-expanding universe of opportunities for talent to build devoted fanbases and extend their brands. In this rapidly evolving attention economy, WMX is designed to provide our artists and labels with a deep, dynamic range of services - covering everything from streaming to merch to branded content and beyond.

Max Lousada, CEO, Recorded Music, Warner Music Group

This is surely the first of many record label/NFT platform partnerships to come.

Bud Light Uses NFTs for New Pick' Em Challenge

There was a pretty hilarious tweet circulating the web a few weeks ago talking about the incredibly funny reality of fantasy football.

If you're one of those people that's "a coach of an imaginary football team for the next 4 months," you'll probably like this news.

Bud Light and the NFL have partnered with Dapper Labs to create Survivor Pick' Em, an NFT-based fantasy football game.

How it Works →

  1. Set up your Dapper account and purchase one or multiple Bud Light team can NFTs featuring your favorite NFL team.

  2. With your NFT minted, come back weekly and make your pick! Choose one team to win from one matchup per week. You can only pick a team once, so choose wisely.

  3. Build a streak by predicting correctly and be eligible for a chance to win prizes throughout the season that any football fan would love (jerseys, tickets, gift cards, a grand prize of tickets to SuperBowl LVII, and more).

  4. If you get a matchup wrong, you'll have to buy another $50 can and start over.

Pick' Em games have been around for a while, and are usually pretty rewarding if you know which teams are hot and which teams aren't. After all, it's a 50% chance of winning, so how hard can it really be? *

* This is not an endorsement. Play at your own risk.

ABCs of NFTs

L is for Ledger

Buying crypto or NFTs? You'll most likely need a wallet to do so. There are 🔥 wallets and 🧊 wallets. Both have their pros and cons, but if you want to make sure you don’t make any quick mistakes or missteps navigating the world of NFTs, a cold wallet like Ledger will slow you down and ensure you approve every transaction.
